Erastin

Description:
Erastin is a polymerase chain inhibitor that specifically targets gene transcription. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of DNA-dependent RNA polymerase by binding to the alpha subunit and inhibiting its ability to use nucleotides as substrates for synthesis. Erastin also inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis in leukemia cells. The synergistic effect of erastin with ferroptosis inhibitors has been shown to induce neuronal death in a model system, which may have therapeutic benefits in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease.
